Jonathan Najera

Jonathan Najera, NJ native, began his formal dance training at the age of 9, at Unique Performance Arts Center and Empire of the Performing Arts respectively. Throughout his
training, he studied an array of styles from ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary which later led him to dance competitively. At 14, he focused more heavily on ballet after joining the New Jersey Ballet School in their Junior Company, under the direction of Carolyn Clark and
Maria Kowroski respectively. Maria Kowroski, former Principal Dancer with the New York City Ballet, was the dancer who originally inspired him into this art form as he grew up watching her movies where she danced as Barbie®.

Jonathan later graduated with a BFA in Dance, from
Montclair State University. During this time, he continued to dance with NJB’s Junior Company as well as teaching Dance at Dynamic Dance Academy in Verona, NJ. After graduating college, Jonathan joined American Repertory Ballet as a Trainee with a full scholarship under the
direction of Ethan Steifel and Aydmara Cabrera respectively. While there he danced with the company and school performing in ballets such as “Paquita”, “Sleeping Beauty” and “The Nutcracker”.

Jonathan has had the privilege to work with choreographers and teachers such as Michael Crawford, David Tamaki, Paul McRae, Rebecca Maso, Liz Perez and Melissa Sande.
Jonathan is thrilled to be dancing with Roxey Ballet for their upcoming season.
